Faktor penyebab asam lambung atau gerd, makan terlalu banyak, merokok dan juga konsumsi makanan berlemak, berminyak, pedas serta minuman-minuman yang berkafein, bersoda & beralkohol. Asam lambung bisa sembuh jika terkontrol apa yg menjadi penyebab ia kambuh > Kondisi ini dapat berulang dan kambuh-kambuhan. Untuk itu hal yang dapat dilakukan untuk menghindari timbulnya gejala adalah dengan cara memperbaiki pola makan, dengan makan lebih sering dengan porsi yang lebih kecil, memilih makanan dan minuman agar tidak memicu produksi asam lambung berlebih, tidak sembarangan mengonsumsi obat pereda nyeri, mengendalikan stres ataupun rasa cemas. Jika semua itu bisa dilakukan maka kondisi lambung akan menjadi lebih baik dan kekambuhan akan jarang.
