_Banyak orang mengira bahwa salah satu manfaat bermain basket adalah bisa membuat tinggi badan bertambah. Main basket bisa membuat tubuh melepaskan hormon pertumbuhan atau human growth hormon (HGH) yang diproduksi kelenjar pituitari pada otak. Hormon HGH yang meningkat selama berolahraga inilah yang memicu pertumbuhan tinggi badan. Basket dan tinggi badan tidak mempunyai hubungan langsung. Orang yang rajin main basket bisa saja tidak lebih tinggi daripada orang yang tidak main basket. Hal ini bisa terjadi karena memang ada banyak faktor lain yang memengaruhi tinggi badan seseorang.
